December Already

I can't believe it's already December. I spent the first few days in wedding mode for Megan's wedding. It turned out amazing and I'm so happy for them. They are enjoying the beautiful weather in Hawaii while we're here.. with the rain. Shocker.

One word just about sums me up right now. Exhausted. No matter how much sleep I get or how little I can barely keep my eyes open sometimes at work. Thankfully the time I had off was busy so I have been trying to keep up which definitely helps.

I was able to have last night off so I got to attend my church's "I Want a Silent Night" women's night. There was good food, great women to fellowship and worship with and three amazing speakers. Judy, Lorinda and Angela all did a great job sharing their "seasoned" knowledge of traditions and what it looks like in their houses. After listening to them all, especially Angela, I can't wait to begin those traditions with my husband and kids.

Here is my maid of honor speech I gave for Megan and CJ's wedding. Kind of corny in some parts [well most] but it made her laugh and cry which was my goal!

"Henry David Thoreau once wrote, 'It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see'. What I'm looking at right now is a room full of people but what I see is how much my best friend and her husband are loved.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Kristy, Megan's best friend and I have the privilege of being her maid of honor. It seems like only yesterday that we were drinking coffee, watching movies and laughing so hard we were crying.. oh wait, that was yesterday.

We met 15 years ago in AWANA but it wasn't until the end of junior high and beginning of high school that we became friends. Oh the journey it has been.

For anyone who knows Megan, you know she loves movies. A lot. Luckily that is something that we have in common. We have spent endless hours watching movies from Cinderella to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds [which we later had our own near death experience with a killer owl that we are both still a little bitter about.]

I don't want to make this long but I do want to offer some advice so I figured what better way than to use some of our favorite movies.

I was trying to include our musical favorites like Mamma Mia and Hairspray but CJ doesn't seem like the type to just randomly break out in song. Although I'm sure in time that will change.

I hope you get to spend a Valentine's Day on top of the Empire State Building like Sleepless in Seattle. May you never be above writing letters back and forth to each other the way Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan do in You've Got Mail. Megan, don't overreact because of a horrible anniversary gift that CJ gives you the way Annie does in Father of the Bride.

May you have a love like Noah & Allie in the Notebook and I can't wait to see your rooster shaped umbrella holder that will hold all of CJ's umbrella's. When your marriage brings you trials, may you fight for it and put all your trust in God the way they do in Fireproof.

Megan, never stop pursuing music. Some day you could get a part in a major motion picture. Thank goodness you don't sound like a coyote in a trash compactor. And CJ, even after years of marriage, plan a date night... maybe not one as adventurous as Steve Carell & Tina Fey's but you get the idea. I'm so thankful that you two found each other.

I pray your marriage is filled with love, laughter and may you live happily ever after."

The end!
